Hi! Hello! It’s been a while, I know...
I ironically took National Nutrition Month off (March), to check some things off my professional bucket list, but oddly enough this little corner of Substack has kept on growing! (Thank you for being here!)
I’ll be stopping by your inbox twice a month as usual, but I will also sneak in there an extra day or two. I’ll keep you posted on changes as this project continues to evolve and grow.
For now, here’s 30 tough pills to swallow (someone had to say it…):
If you don’t like vegetables, perhaps they just haven't been prepared in a way that suits your taste yet.
2-3 gallons of water a day might not be necessary and sounds like a whole lot of pee time.
Being hungover every weekend is likely affecting more than your bank account, like your sleep, your liver, your brain and so much more!
Being in a calorie deficit for too long will likely become unsustainable if it’s too drastic of a cut.
Being in a calorie deficit and not eating enough protein may lead to lean muscle mass loss and may affect your metabolism negatively in the long run.
Weight loss drugs will help you lose weight, but you’ll likely regain it back after you’re off of them if you don’t focus on making that weight loss sustainable with adequate nutrition and exercise interventions.
Cilantro, parsley, basil, thyme, and other herbs are underrated, and you should try to add them to your foods more often.
Everything does taste better with a lil’ lemon/lime juice.
Soy will not harm you or lead you to have *man boobs, * soy foods are friends and can boost your health in more ways than one!
Eating healthy is not as expensive as you think it is and does not need to be as aesthetic as you think it needs to be.
Full-fat dairy products won’t make you gain weight by themselves, they will likely lead to more satisfaction at snack or mealtime.
Cutting out your carbs will make you lose weight quickly because you’ll be losing water weight and not fat mass.
You will not gain more weight if you eat fruit at night.
No single food will make you lose fat, no single tonic, no single supplement, or detox juice can do that either.
Weight does not determine someone's overall health.
Low-calorie and sugar-free does not equal healthier.
Small frequent meals are not going to make you lose weight and might not be the best approach for everyone.
Fasting will also not make you magically lose weight and might not be the best approach either for some people.
Snacking isn’t bad and can be a great way to curb your hunger.
Fruit is not a high-sugar food and is very beneficial for our health.
Eating disorders affect all populations, not just “thin, white, cisgender women.”
The BMI is B.S. and we’ll get into this one later on.
A vegan diet isn’t necessarily healthier than a non-vegan one.
Coffee does not dehydrate you.
If you eat the same way as your mom, your siblings, or favorite celebrity, you’d still look different!
If they’re selling a product with no scientific claims or research, take it with a grain of salt.
Convenience foods aren’t necessarily bad for you.
Processed foods as a blanket statement are not unhealthy.
Lemon water is not “fat-burning” but if you like the taste go right ahead!
Most supplements’ nutrition facts and claims aren’t regulated so you might just be wasting your money.
Any catch your interest? Let me know which one you’d like us to explore in the future!
Uffff, todos!!! someone had to say it indeed ! Welcome back!
FACTS! Also thanks for reminding me I need to eat more protein lol
